€102 Million Winter Assistance: Netherlands Announces First Support Package for Ukraine in 2024

The Netherlands has allocated €102 million for its first support package for Ukraine in 2024, as part of a larger commitment of over €2 billion for Ukraine over the year. This initial package, intended for the first four months of 2024, is aimed at assisting Ukraine during the winter and preparing for spring. The funding will be distributed as follows:

  1. €15 million for humanitarian aid through the UN's Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

  2. €15 million for the clearance of mines from agricultural land and areas that have been liberated from Russian control.

  3. €62 million to support the Ukrainian government in providing basic services, repairing critical infrastructure, and implementing reforms under the Special Program for Ukraine and Moldova Recovery (SPUR), which is part of the World Bank’s International Development Association.

  4. €10 million allocated for the delivery of materials to improve the electricity grid.

The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has continued to take a heavy toll on the country's society and economy, making international support crucial to address its pressing needs.
