China and Uzbekistan Forge All-Weather Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev have elevated their countries' bilateral ties to an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership for a new era. During President Mirziyoyev's state visit to China, the leaders discussed the deep-rooted and vibrant friendship between the two nations, highlighting their shared aspirations for a more meaningful and dynamic relationship.
President Xi expressed China's strong support for Uzbekistan's national sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, emphasizing the importance of enhancing strategic communication and mutual trust. Both leaders pledged to strengthen their cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, focusing on trade, investment facilitation, infrastructure, and agricultural high-tech parks. They also discussed the early commencement of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project to help Uzbekistan transition from a landlocked to a land-linked country.
In addition, the leaders emphasized cooperation in renewable energy, poverty reduction, local projects, cultural exchanges, and educational scholarships for Uzbekistani students in China. They also stressed coordination within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and cooperation on global and regional governance.
President Mirziyoyev's visit underlined Uzbekistan's commitment to the one-China principle and its support for China on various core issues. The leaders signed a joint statement and witnessed the signing of several agreements to enhance their cooperation in multiple sectors.
The visit included a welcoming ceremony and banquet hosted by President Xi and his wife for President Mirziyoyev and his wife, highlighting the warmth of their diplomatic ties.
