In his address at the 19th NAM Summit in Kampala, India's External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, conveyed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's warm greetings and commended Uganda's Chairship.
Acknowledging Azerbaijan's leadership during challenging times and welcoming South Sudan as a new member, Jaishankar presented India's perspectives rooted in the belief of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, emphasizing a world-as-family approach.
He highlighted the profound changes since 2019, including the enduring impact of the Covid pandemic, global conflicts like Gaza, and disruptive climate change. Jaishankar called for a multipolar world with a reformed UN, economic decentralization, and cultural rebalancing.
He stressed practical steps like regional economic hubs, resilient supply chains, and people-centric policies, citing India's commitment through numerous global projects. Addressing conflicts, particularly Gaza, he advocated for a sustainable solution, adherence to international humanitarian law, and a two-state solution for Palestine.
Jaishankar underscored the NAM's role in addressing global challenges, urging boldness and collaboration for a transformative impact in its seventh decade.
