Dr. S. Jaishankar's Strategic Visit to Uganda and Nigeria

Indian External Affairs Minister (EAM), Dr. S. Jaishankar, will lead the Indian delegation at the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Kampala, Uganda, on January 19-20, 2024.

The summit, themed 'Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence,' aims to unite over 120 developing countries. Minister of State for External Affairs, Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, will represent India at the NAM Foreign Ministers’ meeting, while Shri V. Muraleedharan will attend the G-77 Third South Summit in Kampala on January 21-22, 2024.

India, a founding NAM member, supports Uganda's leadership and the summit's theme. EAM is expected to engage with Ugandan leaders and counterparts from NAM member states on the sidelines.

Following the summit, EAM will embark on an official visit to Nigeria from January 21-23, 2024. During this visit, he will co-chair the 6th India-Nigeria Joint Commission Meeting, inaugurate the Nigeria-India Business Council meeting, and conduct various engagements to strengthen bilateral relations between India and Nigeria.
