DRDO Showcases Women Power and Indigenous Defense Technologies at Republic Day Parade 2024

New Delhi (Amaravati Today): The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) will showcase several critical systems and technologies during the 75th Republic Day Parade on January 26, 2024. DRDO's contribution to 'Aatmanirbharta' (self-reliance) will be highlighted, particularly the significant role of women scientists in core areas of Defence Research. The DRDO tableau will focus on the theme 'Women power in protecting the nation by providing the defence shield in all 5 dimensions: Land, Air, Sea, Cyber, and Space.'

The tableau will prominently feature women's involvement in Defence R&D and display various indigenous technologies and systems, including Man Portable Anti-tank Guided Missile (MPATGM), Anti-Satellite (ASAT) Missile, Agni-5, Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS), Naval Anti-Ship Missile–Short Range (NASM-SR), and more.

The Anti-Satellite (ASAT) Missile demonstrated India's anti-satellite technology, while Agni-5 is a highly accurate surface-to-surface ballistic missile. MPATGM is a third-generation ATGM with night operational capability, NASM-SR is an indigenous air-launched anti-ship missile, and VSHORADS neutralizes low altitude aerial threats.

Other systems include Helicopter-launched Nag ATGM, Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM), Astra air-to-air missile, Light Combat Aircraft 'Tejas,' 'Uttam' AESAR radar, and 'Shakti' Electronic Warfare System.

DRDO's partnership with various stakeholders in the defense ecosystem, including academia, industry, MSMEs, start-ups, and services, reinforces the spirit of 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' in developing state-of-the-art defense systems. Additionally, other DRDO-developed systems like Pinaka, Nag Missile System, and Medium Range Surface to Air Missile (MRSAM) will also be displayed during the Republic Day Parade.
