Fox, Disney, Warner Bros Discovery's sports-streaming JV priced at $42.99/month
Venu Sports, the streaming service formed by Walt Disney, Fox and Warner Bros Discovery, will be priced at $42.99 per month with a seven-day free trial, it said on Thursday.
The companies announced the service in February to woo younger viewers who are not tuned in to cable TV by bundling their broad portfolio of sports rights including the National Football League, the National Basketball Association and the FIFA World Cup.
Bundled services are becoming more common among media companies with an eye on price-conscious customers who are hesitant to sign up for multiple services.
"The streaming service will provide access to 14 live sports channels and an expansive library of on-demand content from the collective companies' portfolios of sports networks and ESPN+," Venu Sports said.
Venu Sports, led by former Apple executive Pete Distad, is aiming for 5 million subscribers in the first five years following its launch in the United States this fall.
It will be available directly through a new app and subscribers can opt to bundle the service with Disney+, Hulu or Max.
