Historic Visit: King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark Honored at Parliament Ceremony
King Frederik X and Queen Mary, along with members of the royal family, visited the Danish Parliament for the first time since their official roles began. They were warmly received by the Presidium before entering the Chamber. The Speaker of the Danish Parliament, Søren Gade, delivered a speech highlighting the strong relationship between the Parliament and the Royal House, emphasizing the seamless coexistence of elected and inherited powers. Gade also extended his gratitude to Queen Margrethe II for her 52-year reign and her efforts to modernize the monarchy while respecting its history and traditions.
Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen conveyed a message from the King to the Parliament in her speech. The event concluded with nine cheers for the new regent, followed by a performance by the Danish National Girls’ Choir, and a reception for members of the Folketing and other invited guests in the Landsting Hall.
