Inaugural China-Europe Freight Train Route Forges Direct Link Between Xi'an and Poti, Boosting Trade and Economic Ties

In a significant development, the 18th main route of the China-Europe freight train service has been inaugurated, connecting Xi'an in China's Shaanxi Province to Poti, a port city in Georgia.
The maiden voyage, carrying 55 containers laden with goods like automobiles and machinery, commenced from Xi'an and will traverse through Khorgos port, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, before reaching Poti.
The 7,829 km journey employs a multimodal rail-sea-rail approach, completing in approximately 15 days. Xi'an, having managed 5,351 China-Europe freight trains in 2023, a 15.3% YoY increase, continues to be a key hub.
Since its launch in 2013, the Xi'an Chan-Ba International Port reports over 21,400 trains handled, reaching 45 countries and regions in Eurasia.
