India Cabinet Clears Census 2027 Budget, CoalSETU Policy & Copra MSP Hike | Amaravati Today Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw addressed the media after the Cabinet meeting on December 12, 2025, announcing major policy decisions with wide national impact. The Union Cabinet approved a ₹11,718 crore budget for Census 2027, marking India’s first fully digital census. For the first time, caste enumeration will be included, along with a self-enumeration option through a mobile app, while ensuring strict personal data protection under the DPDP Act, 2023.
The Cabinet also cleared the CoalSETU policy, a transparent digital window aimed at improving coal utilization, boosting domestic supply, reducing import dependence, and strengthening India’s energy security.
