India's Vice-President, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, inaugurated the World Sustainable Development Summit 2024 at TERI in New Delhi, emphasizing the need for international leadership to integrate environmental protection and climate justice into global societies.
He praised India's initiatives in balancing economic growth with ecological preservation, citing the nation as a beacon of inspiration worldwide. Highlighting the interconnectedness of global challenges, he stressed the importance of people and nature-centric approaches to sustainable development. Dhankhar underscored India's commitment to renewable energy, which fosters economic growth, job creation, and technological innovation.
Expressing concerns over climate change, he called for harmonizing economic progress with sustainable development for future generations' benefit. The event was attended by dignitaries including Prime Minister Mark Phillips of Guyana and Union Minister Bhupender Yadav.
