Indonesia and Tanzania Forge Stronger Ties Across Multiple Sectors
Indonesia and Tanzania have announced their commitment to enhancing cooperation across various sectors, strengthening the bonds of friendship between the two nations. Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Tanzanian President Samia Suluh Hassan held joint discussions at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, emphasizing the following key areas of cooperation:
Trade and Investment: The countries plan to initiate negotiations for a preferential trade agreement (PTA) in 2024 to boost trade. They also aim to enhance cooperation in the oil and gas sector, with Indonesian firm PT Pertamina expanding its involvement in the Mnazi Bay oil and gas block.
Development Cooperation: Indonesia intends to bolster cooperation by focusing on human resource development, revitalizing the Farmer’s Agriculture and Rural Training Center (FARTC) in Morogoro, and implementing digital-based systems.
Health Sector: Both nations will collaborate more closely in the pharmaceutical sector to ensure the fulfillment of medical needs in Tanzania and expedite the registration of pharmaceutical products.
Support for Palestinians: Indonesia and Tanzania reaffirmed their solidarity in supporting the Palestinian people.
South-South Cooperation: Indonesia hopes for Tanzania's participation in the Indonesia-Africa Forum (AIF) II in 2024 to strengthen South-South Cooperation.
