Iranian Foreign Minister Meets with Pakistani Prime Minister

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian visited Islamabad on Monday, where he met with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. During their meeting, the two officials discussed various bilateral issues aimed at enhancing economic ties and boosting trade exchanges at their joint borders.

According to the Public Relations Office of the Pakistani Prime Minister, Prime Minister Kakar affirmed Islamabad's commitment to strengthening cordial relations with Tehran. Both nations share a border and have a history of cooperation in various fields.

Prime Minister Sharif, during the meeting, emphasized the need for dialogue to address the existing challenges between Iran and Pakistan. He stressed the importance of conducting these talks with mutual respect and in accordance with international regulations, including the United Nations Charter. This diplomatic approach reflects Pakistan's desire to maintain peaceful and cooperative relations with its neighbor.

In addition to discussing bilateral relations, Prime Minister Sharif extended an invitation to Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to visit Pakistan. Such visits serve as a symbol of goodwill and cooperation between the two nations, allowing leaders to further strengthen ties and explore opportunities for collaboration in various sectors.

This visit marked the third time that Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian has traveled to neighboring Pakistan since assuming his position in August 2021. During his visit, he also held meetings with his Pakistani counterpart, Jalil Abbas Jilani, and Pakistan's Army Chief, Syed Asim Munir. These meetings underscore the ongoing commitment of both nations to engage in meaningful discussions and cooperation to address regional challenges and enhance their mutual relationship.

As Iran and Pakistan continue to work towards strengthening their ties and resolving common challenges, their leaders' diplomatic efforts hold the potential to contribute to greater stability and prosperity in the region. The invitation to President Raisi and ongoing high-level dialogues are indicative of their shared commitment to maintaining a positive and constructive relationship.
