In a historic move, Israel has approved the production and sale of meat without using animals, following Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's directive to advance alternative proteins.
This breakthrough comes three years after Netanyahu initiated a team, comprising various ministries, to explore alternative proteins for economic strengthening, food security, and animal welfare.
The team's efforts resulted in regulatory permits for milk without cows earlier this year and, as of today, meat without animals.
Netanyahu emphasized that Israel is the first country to approve the sale of cultured meat, hailing it as a global breakthrough with significant implications for food security, environmental protection, and animal welfare.
The decision reflects a collaborative effort between government ministries and companies in the alternative protein sector, following discussions and tours by Prime Minister Netanyahu over the past year.
