Italy and UNESCO Collaborate to Restore Odesa Cathedral Roofing in Ukraine
Italy, through its Special Envoy to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Reconstruction of Ukraine, Davide La Cecilia, signed an agreement with UNESCO to allocate €500,000 for the restoration of the Cathedral of the Transfiguration in Odesa. The cathedral suffered severe damage from Russian bombing last July. This initiative aims to preserve the cultural and religious heritage of the city. Ambassador Pier Francesco Zazo emphasized Italy's commitment to supporting Ukraine's reconstruction efforts, leveraging the country's expertise in cultural preservation.
The project also seeks to engage international cultural institutions and Italian companies for urban and architectural regeneration, aligning with principles of sustainability and innovation. The agreement underscores Italy's dedication to fostering cultural and historical restoration in Ukraine.
