Italy's Minister Tajani Leads G7 Trade Ministers' Virtual Summit

Italy's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, presided over the inaugural G7 Trade Ministers’ Meeting via videoconference, accompanied by Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs Maria Tripodi. Discussions among G7 partners revolved around the ramifications of global geopolitical tensions on trade, emphasizing energy access, food security, and supply chain resilience, particularly in Africa. Minister Tajani underscored Italy's commitment to supporting its over 4 million small and medium-sized enterprises, advocating for fair competition regardless of circumstances.

The meeting served as a prelude to the 13th World Trade Organisation Ministerial Conference, aiming to address trade distortions and promote sustainable practices. Further deliberations are slated for the second G7 Trade Ministers' Meeting in July, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Tajani in Reggio Calabria.
