Norwegian Government Allocates NOK 2 Billion to Boost Ammunition Production
The Norwegian government has approved a significant allocation of two billion Norwegian kroner to bolster the production capacity of ammunition, with a primary focus on artillery ammunition. This decision comes in response to the heightened demand for ammunition triggered by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Approximately one billion NOK will be directed towards specific projects at Nammo, while the remaining one billion NOK will support other initiatives within the Norwegian defense industry.
Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre emphasized the importance of increasing ammunition production and stated that the government had previously designated around one billion kroner to enhance Norwegian production capacity through co-financing of ASAP projects. This allocation aims to ensure that Norway can effectively meet its defense needs in light of evolving security concerns.
