President Biden Issues Strong Message on International Holocaust Remembrance Day: Condemns Antisemitism and Honors Survivors
President Joe Biden has issued a statement on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, emphasizing the importance of remembering the Holocaust and condemning antisemitism. He mourns the six million Jews who were systematically targeted and killed by the Nazis during the 1930s and 1940s, along with other groups who suffered, including the Roma, Sinti, Slavs, people with disabilities, LGBTQI+ individuals, racial minorities, and political dissidents. President Biden also highlights the recent tragic events in Israel, where Hamas terrorists killed approximately 1,200 innocent people, including Holocaust survivors, in one of the worst atrocities against the Jewish people since the Holocaust.
The President calls for a strong stand against antisemitism, both at home and abroad, and mentions the National Strategy to Combat Antisemitism. He emphasizes the moral responsibility to combat hate and hate-fueled violence and reaffirms the promise of "Never Again." President Biden shares personal experiences of educating his family about the Holocaust and taking them to visit a concentration camp in Germany. He concludes by expressing solidarity with the Jewish community, vowing to carry forward the lessons of the Shoah, fight against antisemitism, and work towards bringing hostages home.
