Russia tells citizens: refrain from travel to the Middle East

The EU has reached a historic provisional political agreement to permanently phase out all Russian fossil fuels under the REPowerEU plan. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, IEA Director Fatih Birol, and EU Energy Commissioner Dan Jørgensen announced clear deadlines to end remaining gas and oil imports—marking the start of Europe’s full energy independence from Russia. Gas contracts will end between 2026–2027 depending on the type, while all remaining Russian oil imports will be banned by end of 2027. EU reliance on Russian gas has already fallen from 45% to 13%, and oil from 26% to 2%.
