Spain's President Examines Ryanair's 5 Billion Euro Investment Proposal in the Country

Spanish President Pedro Sánchez recently met with Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary at Moncloa Palace, accompanied by Minister of Transport Óscar Puente. O'Leary presented the airline's ambitious 5 billion euro investment plan for Spain over the next seven years. Sánchez highlighted the significance of Ryanair's commitment, showcasing confidence in Spain's stable economy and its appeal to international markets and investors. The investment aims to boost tourism, a vital sector that demonstrated remarkable growth by the end of 2023.

Ryanair's plan includes raising passenger numbers from 55 million to 77 million, expanding routes from 730 to over a thousand by 2030, incorporating 33 new, more sustainable aircraft with 20% lower CO2 emissions, and establishing five additional bases. The leaders agreed to collaborate on reinforcing regional airports, foreseeing increased air traffic to spur economic activity and territorial development. Ryanair, holding a prominent position in Spain with over 6,500 employees, leads in passenger volume, operating 700 routes to 29 countries, including 82 domestic routes. The meeting emphasizes the mutually beneficial partnership between Ryanair and Spain in fostering economic growth and connectivity.
