The joint press conference marked Chancellor Merz’s maiden visit to India and highlighted 75 years of India–Germany diplomatic ties and 25 years of strategic partnership. Key announcements included a new Indo-Pacific consultation mechanism, expanded defence and counter-terrorism cooperation, bilateral trade crossing $50 billion, and the launch of an India–Germany Centre of Excellence in renewable energy. Both sides signed 19 agreements across critical minerals, green ammonia, health, education, and semiconductors. Chancellor Merz reaffirmed support for concluding the India–EU Free Trade Agreement by January 2026, while PM Modi welcomed Germany’s visa-free transit for Indian citizens. Global issues, including Ukraine, Gaza, and Iran, were also discussed.
