Governor Greg Abbott of Texas delivered a keynote address at the 7th India-U.S. Forum in New Delhi, where he championed the robust economic partnership between Texas and India. Highlighting the shared values of family, faith, compassion, and hard work, Governor Abbott emphasized the critical role both regions play on the global stage, with India situated near China and Russia and Texas serving as a nexus between the United States and Latin America.
During his speech, Governor Abbott celebrated the growing trade between Texas and India, noting that Indian companies have invested over $1.4 billion in capital through 59 projects in Texas over the last decade, resulting in the creation of more than 10,300 jobs. He also highlighted the significant Indian American community in Texas, totaling over 542,000 residents.
Governor Abbott's discussions with India's External Affairs Minister, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, covered topics such as Texas' robust energy industry, semiconductor manufacturing, and aerospace endeavors, fostering collaboration between the two regions in these sectors.
The economic development mission led by Governor Abbott underscores the thriving Texas-India partnership, with India ranking ninth among all nations for foreign direct investment projects in Texas, making Texas the favored destination for Indian FDI capital investment and job creation in the United States.
