Thailand and Lesotho Strengthen Diplomatic Ties in Bilateral Meeting at 19th Non-Aligned Movement Summit

During the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in Kampala, Uganda, Thailand's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Jakkapong Sangmanee, engaged in a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. Lejone Mpotjoane, Lesotho's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations.
The discussions highlighted the positive relations between the two countries, emphasizing the ongoing development cooperation, particularly in Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP) and human capacity development. Thailand is actively involved in supporting Lesotho's Sustainable Agriculture Development Project by refurbishing irrigation systems and providing agricultural equipment.
The meeting also saw Lesotho inviting Thai businesses to invest in areas like gemstone mining, clean energy, and livestock farming.
Additionally, Thailand sought Lesotho's support for establishing a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the Southern African Customs Union (SACU) and backed Thailand's candidacy for the Human Rights Council (HRC) membership from 2025 to 2027.
