UK-backed Solar Farm in South Punjab Receives Visit from British High Commissioner in Efforts to Combat Climate Change"

British High Commissioner Jane Marriott CMG OBE witnessed the impact of UK-Pakistan collaborations on global green energy transition during her visit.

The Atlas Solar Farm, backed by the UK government's British International Investment, contributes 100 MW of clean energy, benefiting over 100,000 homes and preventing 106,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.

Marriott emphasized Pakistan's potential as a solar energy leader, with the UK already investing in this transformative innovation. In South Punjab, the High Commissioner engaged with partners like Maries Stopes Society and government officials, discussing sustainable practices.

The UK's support to the Punjab government included a substantial reduction in debt and pension reform. Marriott also toured MG Apparel, a major clothing exporter to the UK, showcasing the multifaceted UK-Pakistan partnership fostering sustainable energy and economic development.
