US Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu's Diplomatic Mission: Strengthening Ties with India and Advancing US-Maldives Cooperation
US Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, Donald Lu, is embarking on a trip to India and the Maldives from January 26 to 31. In India, he will lead a U.S. delegation at the India-U.S. Forum in New Delhi, joined by Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources, Geoffrey R. Pyatt. The delegation aims to foster discussions and strengthen partnerships between the United States and India, involving government officials, the private sector, academia, and media.
Following their visit to India, Assistant Secretary Lu and the delegation will proceed to the Maldives. There, they will engage in meetings with senior Maldivian officials to bolster U.S.-Maldives cooperation and work towards establishing a permanent U.S. Embassy presence in Malé. Additionally, the delegation plans to interact with civil society representatives and higher education officials during their visit to the Maldives.
