US Secretary Blinken Discusses DRC Conflict and Nairobi Process with Former Kenyan President Kenyatta

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken engaged in a critical conversation with former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta regarding the escalating conflict in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The discussion underscored the significance of the Nairobi Process in charting a path towards reconciliation with armed groups in the region.

Secretary Blinken emphasized the pivotal role played by regional leaders in assisting both the DRC and Rwanda in implementing confidence-building measures and other commitments. These commitments were previously discussed with Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines and other senior U.S. officials. The conversation signifies the United States' commitment to regional diplomacy and collaboration to address the ongoing crisis in eastern DRC and promote stability in the area.
